Jack W. Melton, OD, FAAO

Dr. Jack Melton is recognized nationally for his expertise in the field of contact lenses and laser vision corrections. Dr. Melton is a co-author of the textbook Rx for Success. He has served as the president of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians, Central Oklahoma Optometric Association, and Heart of America Contact Lens and Anterior Segment Society. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a founding member of the Society of Contact Lens Specialists. Dr. Jack Melton has been chosen twice as his profession’s “Best and Brightest” and is the 1996 recipient of the Heart of America’s “Optometrist of the Year” award.

An early pioneer in correction of vision with lasers, Dr. Melton was the first optometrist in the United States to be licensed in laser vision surgery. Dr. Melton is also certified in anterior segment laser procedures. Dr. Melton was the founder and initial president of the Laser Excimer Eye Surgery Panel of Doctors, and is past Vice Chairman and Board Member of the Council for Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance. Dr. Melton is the medical director for Omni Laser Vision.

Dr. Melton and wife Janet are long-time residents of Edmond. They have three married children and eight grandchildren. Dr. Melton enjoys golf and photography.  His photographic art has been exhibited in both shows and galleries; works can be viewed at www.jackmelton.blogspot.com.

Ryan J. Melton, OD, FAAO

Dr. Ryan Melton is a graduate of Edmond Memorial High School, the University of Central Oklahoma, and Southern California College of Optometry. He attended the University of Central Oklahoma on a baseball scholarship and was distinguished as an Academic All-Conference player. Dr. Melton completed internships at Arizona Veteran Administration Medical Center, Oklahoma Indian Health Services, and San Diego Navy Medical Hospital.

Dr. Melton is board certified in therapeutic ocular medications and both anterior and refractive laser surgery. His special interests include pediatric optometry, sports vision, and contact lenses. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians.

Dr. Melton has received national recognition as the recipient of the distinguished Wesley-Jessen Excellence Award for his research in the field of Monovision Laser Refractive Surgery and Monovision Contact Lenses.

Dr. Melton and his wife, Dr. Alissa Peterson Melton, reside in Edmond. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf, basketball, coaching little league, and raising English Bulldogs.

Alissa Peterson Melton, OD, FAAO

Dr. Alissa Peterson Melton is a native of Aberdeen, Washington. She attended Grays Harbor College on a basketball scholarship and completed her undergraduate education at Washington State University. Dr. Melton received her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from Southern California College of Optometry where she graduated with distinction of Beta Sigma Kappa, an International Optometric Honor Society.

Dr. Melton is board certified in therapeutic ocular medications and both anterior segment and refractive laser surgery. Her special professional interests include ocular disease, low vision, contact lenses, and laser refractive surgery. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians, and the Washington Association of Optometric Physicians.

Dr. Melton has received national recognition for her academic and clinical achievements of excellence. She was honored with the Frank A. Brazelton Memorial Award and the distinguished national Wesley-Jessen Excellence Award for her research on Monovision Laser Refractive Surgery and Monovision Contact Lenses.

Dr. Alissa Peterson Melton practices at Omni Eye Center with her husband, Dr. Ryan Melton, and father-in-law, Dr. Jack Melton. Her hobbies include golf, attending sporting events, and gardening. Drs. Alissa and Ryan have a son, Luke and daughters, Kate and Ella.

J. Chris Hummel, MD, MPH

Dr. Hummel is a board certified ophthalmologist.  He has trained with many of the leading international surgeons in RK, AK, PRK, LASIK, INTACS, SRP and has been performing excimer laser vision correction since its FDA approval in late 1995.

Dr. Hummel is the Chief LASIK Surgeon at the Omni Laser Vision Center in Edmond, and Surgical Director of Hummel Eye Associates. He is certified by both the American Board of Ophthalmology and American Board of Laser Surgery. He practices general ophthalmology, but has a special interest in laser vision correction and advanced cataract surgery.

Dr. Hummel is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology Refractive Surgery Interest Group, the American Board of Laser Surgery, the Oklahoma Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the Oklahoma State Medical Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Hummel and his wife, Robin, have three children and live in Edmond. In addition to his work, Dr. Hummel enjoys playing golf, water skiing, and mostly spending quality time with his family.

Whitney N. Cox, O.D.

Doctor Whitney N. Cox is a native of Oklahoma and grew up in Duncan. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies and a minor in Spanish. Doctor Cox studied optometry at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry where she graduated summa cum laude with her Doctorate of Optometry degree. She has expertise in eye health, vision, laser vision, contact lenses, and eyeglasses. Additionally, she has special interests in dry eyes, the presence of cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

While in optometry school, Doctor Cox received a number of awards including the Oklahoma College of Optometry Clinical Excellence Award as well as the NSU Academic Achievement Award for the college. She was also featured in Women in Optometry & the Vision Monday magazine as “Best in Class” Award for 2015 and was recognized by the Southwest Contact Lens Society for excellence in prescribing contact lenses. Dr. Cox was also a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society throughout optometry school.

Doctor Cox is active in the American Optometric Association and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians and was also chosen to be a member of the Oklahoma Leadership Optometry Class of 2016. Doctor70225479 Cox is currently serving on the Membership Committee of the OAOP and has participated in various legislative activities at the Oklahoma State Capitol to help promote the ocular health of the citizens of Oklahoma. She is also an active member of a P.E.O philanthropic organization in the Edmond community that seeks to promote education and the advancement of women through scholarships, grants and awards. During her free time, Doctor Cox enjoys spending time at the lake with family, shopping, traveling, and attending OU sporting events!

Dr. Evan Dunn

Doctor Evan Dunn is an Edmond native. He graduated from Edmond North High School, and received a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He attended the University of Illinois at Chicago on a swimming scholarship and served as the captain of the swim team during his senior year. Doctor Dunn earned his doctorate degree from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry, where he graduated with honors and received the Award for Clinical Excellence.
Doctor Dunn is board certified in therapeutic ocular medications and anterior laser surgery. He has special expertise in glaucoma and patients with dry eyes. He has presented research at the American Academy of Optometry’s educational conference and is a member of both the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians and American Optometric Associations. In his free time Doctor Dunn enjoys playing sports, travelling, and spending time with his friends and family.
